Bonjour,
I am planning the afternoon of Thursday 8. I would like every team to make a presentation (I provide the conference room and the video projector, you provide the presentation !) about your projects. The program could be :
11h00-13h00 : installation of the boats in the ENSICA main entrance 13h00 : lunch 14h00 : Yves's talk : welcome 14h00 : Alain Filipowicz (director of ENSICA) : welcome 14h15 : Roland Stelzer and his boat 14h35 : Philippe Boutin and his boat 14h55 : Yves Briere and his boat 15h15 : Mark Neal and his boat 15h35 : Luc Jaulin and the ENSIETA's projects 15h55 : Yves Briere + Mark Neal : history of the "Microtransat challenge" Coffee break, discussion : future of the "Microtransat Challenge" 17h00 : end of meetings, packing of the boats into the cars/vans, etc...
You can suggest everything you want. I suggest each presentation to fit into the classical 15mn time.
It is important that each team present his boat and project in order to help Luc Jaulin to make up his mind : he will be president of the jury.

Dear challengers,
I hope everything is ok for you and your boats. Ours is now sailing quite well althought not fully autonomously.
I can now give you some details about the challenge :
- first of all, the Google Earth aerial photography of the lake has been updated and the georeferencing is now very good. We can distinguish two docks and we'll use probably the left one for take off and landing (WGS84 44°5'9.15"N /1° 1'52.49"E. This location is given by our GPS and corresponds exactly to the end of the dock). Cars and vans can be placed on the slip nearby with a very good sightseeing of the whole lake.
- About navigation. The following polygon can be considered to be safe for our boats : (44°5'9.15"N /1°1'52.49"E) (44° 5'21.40"N/1° 1'58.56"E) (44°5'10.71"N/1°2'23.04"E) (44°4'50.41"N/1°2'34.13"E) (44°4'48.90"N/1°2'16.92"E)
- about power. There is no electrical connection near the slip :-( We'll use a generator for 230 V AC. We experienced a lot of problems with parasiting while using a generator during last sea trial... Actually the main problem of autonomy we had to face was with laptops !
- about buoys. I'll go there on june 7th to place the buoys. Approximate locations will be (buoy 1 : 44°5'9.46"N /1° 1'55.58"E) and (buoy 2 : 44°5'1.31"N/1°2'26.07"E). Maximum distance is approximately 800m from the docks.
- It is possible to gain a few meters of elevation at (44°5'5.14"N/1°1'51.87"E) but the line of sight is a little bit perturbated by the top of trees...
- Let me know if distance is a concern for you, considering your transmission system. In that case I'll put a third buoy at a nearest place.
- During the last trials we measured a current of about 0.5-1 Knt leading to NW. If your boat is too slow or if there is no enough wind to sail aginst current I suggest we tow the boats at buoy 2.
- during our tests we never had more than 15knts of wind. Problem was rather the lack of wind ! But the Toulouse area is known for "vent d'autan" wich is very strong an frequent. Anyway don't forget sunblock (crème solaire in french).
If it is ok for you I suggest we dine at a restaurant downtown for the 8th of june dinner. I need to know precisely how many we'll be in order to book the restaurant. Is 20-30€ ok for everybody ?

Dear challengers,
First of all I'd like to thank you for your commitment for our challenge. I am sure it will be definitely very challenging and that we will have a lot of interesting feedback for our projects (and fun).
I am now pretty sure the challenge will take place at the Saint Nicolas de la Grave lake. (44° 4'52.81"N / 1° 2'22.99"E). The boats will be always on sight at a maximum distance of 700m (it might help for data transmission problems). At this lake it is possible to rent electric boats.
I have a meeting next Friday with my administration in order to arrange some practical aspects of the challenge. Could you tell me more about :
- how many people will come ? (you can try to give me a MAX and MIN)
- how many unmotorised people will be there ? (We'll try to do our best to transport everybody but if you come with a van we'll use it !)
- how many people will I have to lodge ? (I'll try to do my best)
Now about money : we have no funding for the challenge but ENSICA will try to do the best. You will pay at student's price for food and lodging. You will not pay for transportation. I tell you as soon as possible for the prices.
I'll give you some feedback next Thursday. (There is tons of snow in the mountains out there, I'll go skiing from saturday to wednesday).

Wenn wir bald genug die Teamgröße wissen, bekommen wir eine günstige Unterkunft in Toulouse (Studentenheim)
Ein Teil der Crew wird wahrscheinlich mit einem Kleinbus oder einem Wohnmobil hinfahren, da der Transport des Bootes im Flieger etwas riskant ist (vor allem, wenn wir uns für ein größeres Boot entscheiden).
Wer will, kann natürlich auch fliegen: Ryanair fliegt ab London-Stansted nach Carcassonne, das ist knapp 100km von Toulouse entfernt. Nach London fliegt etwa Skyeurope (ab Bratislava) oder Ryanair (ab Linz, Graz, Salzburg). easyjet fliegt Stanstead-Toulouse direkt.

Projektraum
Microtransat Projektraum-Eröffnung am Donnerstag, 16. Februar um 18 Uhr
Der Microtransat-Projektraum ist nun bezugsfertig und wartet darauf genutzt zu werden. Nochmals vielen Dank an Herrn Direktor Hickel für diese großartige Unterstützung und an Adrian und Karim für die Hilfe beim Aufräumen.
Wo ist dieser Raum?
Der Raum befindet sich in der HTL Spengergasse in 5. Bezirk. Zufahrtsplan gibt’s auf www.spengergasse.at. Der Raum befindet sich im 4. Stock und hat die Nummer B021. Für Spengergassler: Es ist das ehemalige Hörti-Projektkammerl.
Wie ist der Raum ausgestattet?
Wir haben dort einen PC, Internet, Waschbecken, Lötstation, Belichtungslampe, Ätzmaschine, Oszilloskop, diverses Werkzeug, … und was halt jeder selbst noch so mitbringt.
Wann und wie komm ich in den Raum rein?
Die Schule ist prinzipiell an Unterrichtstagen bis 22 Uhr geöffnet. Im Projektraum selbst haben wir ein elektronisches Zutrittssystem implementiert. Jeder, der am Projekt mitarbeitet, bekommt einen i-Button, mit dem sich die Tür öffnen lässt. An schulfreien Tagen ist die Schule prinzipiell geschlossen. Adrian und ich haben allerdings einen Schlüssel. Wenn einer von uns dabei ist, können wir auch an Wochenenden oder Feiertagen im Projektraum arbeiten.
